Just who am I and why am I doing this?

Hmmm, how shall I begin this? Let's see, my name is Shauna and I wanted to see what it would be like to really do a web page. My dear friend, Bernie, learned html and put together a killer page in two months (during a sojourn one summer as a Canadian Fresh Air Inspector, haha!) and he got me hooked on it.

I should start by telling you a little tiny bit about myself. I live in Austin, Texas...a very cool place but PLEASE don't everybody move here...it's gettin' crowded! Wait, can I say that? I moved here myself, from Houston, another great city. Anyway, I've lived here for several years (did I say I'm 39 40 41?) and work at one of the zillions of state agencies here.

My hobbies are cooking and music and anything nautical (man, I miss the beach...or is it the fresh seafood?) and gardening and learning things about other people and cultures and surfing (the net of course...please, what size waves do you think we HAVE in Galveston...without a hurricane that is?) and....well, lots of other things as you'll see.

It has come to my attention (or is that to my horror?) that some of you are not familiar with nautical terms and have no idea what the following categories are? Incredible...but, OK OK, I'll give you the contents to the side to help you out.

 

Ship's Log - This is a little bit of a diary for me to tell you what's up in my life at the moment.  Last updated October 12, 2003.

  Voyage - This is also in my Spyglass section, but it's such a special thing I decided to give it its own place here too.  This is the description of my trip to the Netherlands, one of the most interesting thing I've ever done in my life!  I met MANY friends I've known on internet for over three years and it was truly incredible to me.  Finished on July 23, 2000.

  Distant Horizons - This is my story of Tunisia, a place I visited in March and April of 2001.  I spent over a month there falling completely in love with this country and one of its citizens.  Last updated on October 12, 2003.

Ports of Call - This is a weird idea I had to put different kinds of common phrases in different languages.  Like the idea?  Good, then contact me so I can get some more languages on here, I only have 6!  Last updated February 21, 2000.

Crows Nest - links to a few live and updated web cam sites, and a little experiment...my own webcam. I've also added some general travel/other countries links, like a currency exchange calculator and other things.  Last updated October 12, 2003.

Galley - my own recipes, lots of them because this is a major hobby for me, and cooking related links. I updated this to add my recipe for couscous with meat.  Last updated January 11, 2002.

Favorite Bells - just a little Java script. I modified this a little June 7, 1997 and there's nothing left to update, just enjoy it like I do!

Spyglass - some pictures I've taken...to show you parts of Texas, California, Florida, MORE Texas, and I swear today I'm working on finally adding some of the vacation pictures from the Netherlands. And today is July 23, 2000.
