Signals
A while back I learned that there are actually real live radio stations from all over the world that you can listen to on your computer if you have sound and at least a 14.4 modem (although some radio sites seem to only work at a little higher connection). I LOVE that, listening to something I am so used to, but in another language, how funny. I crack up at the commercials, especially when it's for something we have here, like Toys R Us or McDonald's and things like that, but in another country. And do you know what else is really funny to me? They play a ton of American music. I actually wish they would play more of their own. I like to sit back in the living room, with an appropriate drink and meal for the country, on a sunny afternoon or a starry night and have the speakers turned up so it is just like I'm there, sort of like travelling without leaving home, no? Yes, I know, a little strange but still, try it and see what you think.
I use Real Player from Real Audio, which you can download as a free version or pay for the more in-depth version if you want to. Look at it and download it from Real Audio and then go check out these stations. Sometimes you have to have a more powerful system in order to pick up a station, and sometimes they are just down so try several times if it doesn't connect and try on different days too. You can also save your favorite sites in something called Presets (sort of like IE Favorites) and play the most recent ones without opening your browser at all.
Anyway, here's the first few, I'm still working on the list but wanted to get these out right now.
KGSR - this is the one I wake up to every morning. They play lots of local or Texas music and are somewhat unique. Click on the WebRadioCom button to load it once you get to that site.
Radio 10 - Martien listens to this station all lot, cool hunh? It's a pretty good mix of Dutch and American oldies.
Radio Laser 105.2 - Here is one from Slovinia...oldies and rock.
Radio FG - a techno station from Paris.
666 - a station from Caen in France
Cool FM 97.4 - a station from Belfast
Here are some links to other sites that have loads of other stations you might be interested in:
